Dr Jayshree Jeebodh is an obstetrician and gynaecologist who qualified from the University of the Watersrand. She also obtained her Masters in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of the Witwatersrand.

She is a subspecialist in Maternal-fetal medicine since 2007.

Dr Jeebodh was head of the Fetal Medicine Unit at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital from 2007 until 2021.She was involved in the teaching and training of medical students, sonography students, registrars in obstetrics and gynaecology and Fellows in Maternal- Fetal medicine. Teaching future generations of doctors, obstetricians and fetal specialists has always been her passion.

Dr Jeebodh has supervised and examined numerous research dissertations for MMed in Obstetrics and Gynecology, MMed in Paediatrics and MMed in Radiology. She is still actively involved in the supervision of MMEd research projects.

Dr Jeebodh held postgraduate Obstetrics and Gynaecology ultrasound workshops to encourage and teach practical ultrasound skills. She was a senior lecturer at the University of the Witwatersrand, Faculty of Health Sciences and was involved in the post graduate teaching programme in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology from 2003 until 2021.

She has examined the CMSA FCOG part 2 examinations, the Diploma in Obstetrics examinations and the Maternal-Fetal subspeciality examination.

Working in a busy, tertiary referral unit exposed her to a wide range of fetal and maternal pathology. She provided ultrasound support and expertise for the high-risk obstetric clinics which included the twin clinic, obstetric endocrine/diabetic clinic, poor obstetric history clinic, obstetric cardiac clinic and anaemia in pregnancy clinic. Her areas of interests are first trimester screening, intra-uterine growth restriction, doppler velocimetry, placenta praevia, placenta accreta syndrome and high-risk pregnancies.

She is accredited with the Fetal Medicine Foundation for first trimester screening.
She is a member of the International Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ISUOG), the South African Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (SASUOG), and the Society of Obstetric Medicine South Africa (SOOMSA).
